Apple launched a new initiative to familiarize customers with its suite of artificial intelligence tools, dubbed Apple Intelligence, through 15-minute sessions at its U.S. retail stores.
The tech giant aims to demonstrate how these AI features, a key component of its latest operating system, can enhance user experience on iPhones, iPads, and Macs. The tools are designed to assist with tasks ranging from email composition to photo editing and emoji creation.
Apple Intelligence is prominently featured in recent advertisements for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro, including spots aired during the World Series. Apple's banking on these flashy new features to push folks into buying the latest and greatest iPhones.
You'll need the latest iPhone, iPad, or Mac to be able to utilize the new Apple Intelligence features - older models need not apply.
Key features of Apple Intelligence include communication assistance which put the AI to use such that it can help users compose messages, proofread content, and adjust the tone of communications. It can also summarize memos and prioritize time-sensitive notifications.
The photo and video management feature lets users search their photo libraries using descriptive language and create themed video compilations. The tool also offers advanced photo editing capabilities, including the ability to remove unwanted objects or people from images. There is also the enhanced Siri functionality. Using this feature the updated voice assistant can better interpret user commands, even when speech is unclear, or instructions change mid-sentence.
In December, Apple will let users create their own emojis. Users can just describe what they want or snap a picture of a friend and turn that into an emoji. Apple's running these crash courses as part of their "Today at Apple" thing – basically a how-to for all their gizmos.
