A bride's choice to start her wedding ceremony without her mom has people talking on the internet.

On Reddit, a woman told how she ended up walking solo down the aisle when her mom didn't make it back for the 2 p.m. start time. Her mom, grandma, and a friend had gone to a nearby hotel to get changed.

"After I was almost ready by noon, my mom had to run back to the hotel 20 minutes away to change and come back with my grandma and family friend," the woman explained.

"Next thing I know, I'm walking myself down the aisle with no mom, grandma, or family friend in sight. The ceremony continues, and it's over before we know it." the bride posted. The officiant needed to dash off to another wedding, so they had to kick things off on schedule.

According to the bride, her mother and the other family members arrived 45 minutes after the ceremony concluded. When informed that they had missed the event, the mother reportedly became hostile and offered various explanations for their tardiness, including delays at a bakery and a train crossing.

"My personal favorite was 'It's your fault you didn't call or text to see where we are,'" the bride recounted in her post.

"I found out the real reason why they were late," she then revealed. "She [the mom] wasn't done getting herself ready therefore holding up everyone."

The story has blown up online, with many people backing the bride for not delaying her big moment.

"If she could receive a text, she could send a text," one person chimed in. "It's not up to the bride or groom to keep track of family on their wedding day."

"It was your wedding day, she's old enough to know how to tell time, and she was just assuming that the world would stop so she could get her hair right. She's a raging [a–hole]," another added.
