WESTLAKE (CNS) - Residents across Los Angeles can now file requests for municipal services to remove graffiti, fill potholes and get rid of abandoned couches from the curb through the new MyLA311 system, Mayor Karen Bass announced Friday.

During a news conference in the Westlake area, Bass highlighted the MyLA311 app, which can be downloaded at https://lacity.gov/myla311. Residents can still call 311 to file a request for service, but the app and website are faster and easier to use.

Bass said 311 operators will also use the new system that offers 86 different types of service requests -- of which 15 are new and 25 have been consolidated.

This new and improved way to request and receive city services is another example of how we are breaking away from the old way of doing things to make our neighborhoods cleaner and safer," Bass said. Download the new app today so you can let us know where the city needs to respond in your neighborhood."

According to the mayor's office, the new system replaces an outdated app and web page that was years past its lifecycle, creating technical issues and glitches."

Councilwoman Eunisses Hernandez, who represents the First District, which includes Westlake, joined Bass for the announcement. She said it was an exciting moment" for the city.

I encourage everyone to download the new application and join us in making our city cleaner, safer and more accessible for all," Hernandez said.

Improvements to MyLA311 make it more reliable and easier to use its chat feature, upload photos to better identify an issue, update notifications, and allows Google mapping to make it easier to locate the service request, officials said.

Additionally, the new system will allow for surveys to measure customer satisfaction and improve accessibility by making the app available in 243 languages. Users can also follow" or subscribe" to better track the progress of their request for service.
