Adherents of the religion across the world — including about 1% of Angeleños — will mark the occasion with feasts, prayers, and celebrations. The Los Angeles Angels have elected to release outfielder Mickey Moniak from his contract. The 2016 first-overall draft pick won an arbitration hearing related to his salary, earlier this offseason. As a result, he was awarded a $2 million salary. Instead of keeping him on their payroll, the Angels opted to buy Moniak out of his contract.
