MADRID (Reuters) - The foreign ministers of Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Britain and Poland, along with the European Union's top diplomat and Defence Commissioner, said on Monday that they were ready to adopt new sanctions against Russia over the war in Ukraine.

"We are also ready to exert further pressure on Russia using all available instruments, including the adoption of new sanctions, with the aim of hindering its ability to wage its war of aggression and ensuring that Ukraine is in the best possible position to secure a just and lasting peace," they said in a joint statement issued after a meeting held in Madrid on Monday.
