Jamie Souders, left, and Morgan Rothenhoefer via Cumberland County PrisonA Pennsylvania couple faces charges in a case of child sexual abuse. According to court filings, Jamie Souders, 42, and Morgan Rothenhoefer, 24, are accused of sexual child abuse and filming the offenses.
The couple faces numerous offenses, including aggravated indecent assault of a child, rape of a minor, and multiple counts of allowing a child to be videotaped during sexual activity.
Citing charging documents, local news sources WHTM and Fox 43 reported that Souders and Rothenhoefer said they were unable to recollect every detail of an event that involved a videotaped eight-year-old child. According to reports, both suspects admitted to using drugs or alcohol when the incident occurred.
WHTM reported that Rothenhoefer had been employed at a local daycare facility since August, having passed criminal background checks before her hiring. The daycare stated that the alleged crimes occurred prior to Rothenhoefer's employment and that she was terminated immediately upon the emergence of the accusations.
Souders and Rothenhoefer remain in custody as they await further legal proceedings.
