A Florida man has been arrested for dropping a 4-year-old boy off the second-floor balcony of the Sandalwood Beach Resort in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Brandon Gilmore, 31, allegedly dangled the kid over the railing before dropping him. The boy then hit his head on the concrete and was rushed to Halifax Health Medical Center.
According to WESH-TV News, Gilmore met the kid's mom at the hotel pool the day of the incident. The pair had been drinking together before the incident occurred.
Dasanni Bentley, an eyewitness to the scene, told WESH-TV that Gilmore first appeared to be playing with the child. "He was just like swinging in, playing with them," Bentley said. "And then he let him go, and he had him by one foot. And then the kid slipped right out of him and fell directly on his head on the concrete — no grass."
Bentley said the boy's face turned purple since he wasn't breathing right after the fall.
Security footage shows Gilmore holding the boy, then grabbing one leg over the balcony before the incident.
Gilmore has been accused with aggravated child abuse charges. He's being kept under custody without bail in Volusia County.
Daytona Beach PD gave Fox News Digital an update on the boy's health earlier this month.
"The child is doing fine and has been discharged from the hospital and is not expected to have any long-term health issues as a result of this tragic event," the local police told reporters.
Cops are still investigating into what happened. There is no word yet on charges for the mom or where the kid is now.
The Sandalwood Beach Resort hasn't commented on the incident.
