ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Disneyland's secret Club 33, known for its high-priced memberships and exclusive atmosphere, may be accessible to non-members through alternative means, according to recent reports.

The Thrillist mentions that the members-only club, located in New Orleans Square at Disneyland, has long been shrouded in mystery. With rumored initiation fees between $25,000 and $50,000 and annual dues up to $30,000, Club 33 has been out of reach for most Disney enthusiasts.

However, according to the platform, Myka McPeek, a local Disneyland visitor, described her experience at Club 33 as "once in a lifetime" and "unforgettable." McPeek revealed that non-members can potentially dine at the club if they know a current member willing to make a reservation for them.

"If you do not know someone who is a member, good luck getting in," McPeek told the Thrillist.

Billy Murray, a former Disneyland cast member who trained character actors, explained the club's purpose. "It is more tailored to celebrity clientele, people who need to escape the crowds of Disneyland," Murray said. "It gives them a place where they can bring the VIPs."

The club, which opened in 1967, was conceived by Walt Disney himself, inspired by VIP areas at the 1964 World's Fair in New York. Disney died before the club's completion, but his vision was carried out by the Walt Disney Company.

Club 33 offers a five-star dining experience at Le Grande Salon restaurant and cocktails at the Salon Nouveau lounge. The club is one of the few locations within Disneyland that serves alcohol and enforces a dress code.

While official membership remains exclusive, some individuals have reportedly attempted to sell Club 33 reservations on platforms like Craigslist and Reddit. However, this practice is not condoned by Disney and could result in membership revocation. In 2015, an original Club 33 member lost their membership after auctioning reservations for a charity fundraiser.

Club 33 has expanded beyond Anaheim, with locations now in Walt Disney World's Orlando parks, Tokyo, and Shanghai. However, membership at one location does not grant access to others, maintaining the club's exclusivity at each site.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced Tuesday a decline of more than one-fourth in the number of homicides and people shot since she took office two years ago. Statistics released by the L.A. Police Department show murders are down 28.1% and 26.2% fewer people have been shot. Gang-related homicides were a particularly bright spot, down by 50% since 2022. City officials attributed the decline in part to programs like Summer Night Lights and Fall Friday Nights, which aim to create supervised spaces for young people at times when gang activities have traditionally been high. Franklin Fire expands to 2,700 acres amid ongoing response efforts

The Franklin Fire in Malibu Canyon grew to more than 2,700 acres as of Tuesday near Pepperdine University.  The fire – driven by Santa Ana winds – started Monday and was first reported at 11 p.m. It threatens about 2,000 structures, forcing mandatory evacuations orders to be handed out. However, only a “minimal” number of homes have been destroyed, and no injuries have been reported.  There’s a high volume of dry brush, which contributed to the rapidly growing fire. The fire began in the midst of a “particularly dangerous situation red flag warning” issued by the National Weather Service. Los Angeles
