When soccer legend Landon Donovan appeared on Fox Sports' Euro 2024 coverage on Monday, his strange-looking hair immediately caught viewers' attention. Instead of focusing on the game, everyone was fixated on the weird gap in Donovan's hairline.
People on social media couldn't help but poke fun at his look, though some were genuinely worried about his well-being.
However, as is often the case with matters that captivate the internet's attention, the confusion was soon dispelled. Mike Magee, Donovan's former LA Galaxy teammate, shed light on the situation by sharing a text exchange with the USMNT legend.
"LD, check Twitter ASAP and probably fire your barber," Magee initially messaged Donovan, prompting the revealing response: "Where were you 7 hours ago? I had a hair transplant procedure two weeks ago and was told it wouldn't show up on camera."
With Donovan's blessing, Magee subsequently made the conversation public, allowing the former striker to take the situation in stride, remarking "Whatever, I deserve it."
Donovan's candid admission provided much-needed context, confirming that the peculiar appearance was an unintended consequence of a recent hair transplant procedure was a real head-scratcher for viewers.
