For over six decades, the Magic Castle has been an iconic fixture in Hollywood, elevating the art of illusion to the level of a sought-after VIP experience. Only those who are lucky enough to get an invitation will learn the establishment's secrets.

The Magic Castle is more than just a venue - it's an entire world of its own, a secretive society for members and their guests where magic is celebrated and appreciated. The idea for the private clubhouse was born in 1963 from founders Milt Larsen, William Larsen Jr., and Irene Larsen. From a terrible fire in 2011 to a scandal that challenged its core, the Magic Castle has seen it all throughout the years. However, the establishment has weathered these storms well under new leadership intent on bringing in a new age.

Entering the Magic Castle feels like stepping into another world entirely. The 1909 mansion turned club exudes grandeur and mystery, with ornate oak paneling, stained glass, eerie oil portraits, and posters of illusionists from bygone eras. Each of the castle's rooms offers a unique experience, drawing inspiration from Old Hollywood, Las Vegas, and the magical world of Harry Potter. The strict dress code and formal attire add an extra layer of exclusivity.

The Magic Castle is committed to creating an inclusive environment, making significant strides in promoting gender equality and diversity. The club now boasts 38 women among its performance rotation and has revised its dress code to eliminate gender-specific requirements. The Magic Castle also nurtures the next generation of magicians through its Junior Society program.

The magic shows are the main attraction, offering an array of performances from card tricks to levitation acts. The 130-seat Palace of Mystery hosts a mesmerizing 45-minute show as the main event. Afterward, guests can wander the castle, dropping in on various performances throughout the space.

Dining at the Magic Castle is an experience unto itself. The main magic performance takes place after a fancy supper in the steakhouse-themed dining area, making for a magical evening. Famous stars including Johnny Depp, Katy Perry, and Ryan Gosling have been spotted there throughout the years.

The club has additionally been a platform for performers like Steve Martin and Neil Patrick Harris. For those unable to score the coveted invitation, booking a stay at the Magic Castle Hotel provides an alternative opportunity to experience the castle's magic. As hotel guests, visitors gain access to the exclusive club. The hotel itself is set in a former 1950s apartment building and offers amenities like a pool, games, and free soft serve.

Gaining access to the prestigious Magic Castle is a difficult feat reserved only for a select few.

The primary way in is through an invite from one of the club's exclusive members. Hotel guests at the Magic Castle Hotel, however, are automatically granted access.

Despite its challenges over the decades, the Magic Castle remains dedicated to keeping the magic alive for years to come. It's still going strong as a place where magic fans may go to have their wildest fantasies realized. The Magic Castle is a one-of-a-kind destination for anybody interested in magic, whether they are professional magicians, aspiring illusionists, or casual fans.
