A Michigan babysitter has been charged with murder after a baby died under her care. According to local media, Savannah Marie Miller has been indicted for Renzi McCall’s death in Reed City.
Fox 17 reported that Miller was initially charged with child abuse. Later, they upgraded the charges to murder when the infant died four days after being admitted to the hospital. It remains unclear whether Miller has entered a plea or secured legal representation.
Jeremiah White, identified as Renzi’s grandfather, told WZZM that Miller is the girlfriend of the baby’s mother. The baby’s grandfather said she was black and blue all over, with a swollen brain and seizures before she passed.
According to Cadillac News, police suspect Miller abused the baby while the mother was at work. The authorities are withholding details on exactly what transpired.
As of 1 August, the community has raised almost $11,000 on GoFundMe for Renzi’s parents. The fundraiser said Renzi was always smiling and lit up the room.
“Renzi was a happy, smiling baby who brought immense joy to everyone around her. Amber is now facing unimaginable pain and grief,” the organizer wrote. “We ask for continued prayers and support for Amber and her family during this incredibly difficult time.”
Cops are being extremely cautious about revealing their findings.
