A Mississippi man has pleaded guilty to a gruesome murder that took place at an RV park laundromat in Biloxi in 2020. Clint Barrett Brower, 45, admitted to killing and dismembering Micah Harrington, 41, on Monday, June 3.
The incident occurred on May 26, 2020, when Brower encountered Harrington at the laundromat. The two men did not know each other. According to court records, surveillance footage showed Brower briefly speaking with Harrington before fatally stabbing him more than 30 times with a large butcher knife he had in his bag. "I took the knife and killed him," Brower admitted in court. The attack was so severe that it left the victim partially dismembered.
Brower claimed he suddenly felt threatened by Harrington, though he couldn't recall their conversation. In a bizarre twist, Brower said he intended to take Harrington's body to a casino, believing someone there could "put [Harrington] back together." Prosecutors say this statement reflects the severity of Brower's undisclosed mental illness.
Michael Crosby, Brower's attorney, emphasized the role of mental health in the case. "This was a reflection of the severity of Brower's mental illness," Crosby stated, as reported by the Sun Herald.
The murder has deeply affected the victim's family. Micara Harrington, the victim's daughter, expressed her anguish to WLOX: "It's demented. It's not even human. He's not even human. He's a monster."
Community members also reacted to this incident and questioned Brower's mental health. William Petty, a resident of the RV park where both men lived, told WXXV 25, "It's just one of those things that the system failed one individual and that's all it is. He needed more psychiatric help."
Brower apologized to Harrington's daughter during the court proceedings before receiving his sentence. He has been sentenced to life in prison for the first-degree murder charge.
