OnlyFans has become a popular subscription site these days, drawing in thousands of Gen Z creators seeking money and fame. But for 25-year-old model and creator, Sarah, making it big on OnlyFans is way harder than it looks online.
Sarah initially joined OnlyFans with high expectations. "I initially got into spicy work because I wanted to make lots of money and thought it was going to be an easy job," she told news.com.au.
But Sarah's experience has been nothing like the glamorous, well-paid lifestyle flaunted online. In a recent viral TikTok post, she confessed, "I'm completely broke. I lost my house, and yeah, I'm just kind of failing at life at the moment."
Her struggles have led her to contemplate abandoning her X-rated career and returning to the traditional 9-to-5 job.
"I feel like I've lost everything to do this job. I've lost friends, I've lost family members, and I've made myself financially cooked," she said.
Though she's not making six figures from the platform, she doesn't blame it for her financial stability.
“This is my fault. I made the decision to do this. It is not the industry’s fault,” she stated.
Sarah also said that there is a common misconception just because she makes X-rated content, she lives a life of wealth. She attributes the oversaturation in the market and the amount of work required to maintain a fan base as factors that affect one's success on the site.
Despite the financial struggles, Sarah remains passionate about content creation and values the creative freedom OnlyFans allows.
"Having full creative control of every aspect of my social media presence as well as my photography is not only an act of empowerment but an act of protest against the cultural conditioning of shame and guilt around sexual expression," she said.
