Standing With Israel, Mourning Suffering on Both Sides

Standing With Israel, Mourning Suffering on Both Sides
October 16, 2023
Nahal Garakani - LA Post

Israel is a small country in a big world. It's like a little house on a big street. Sometimes, this house faces challenges. There are groups and people who don't like Israel. One such group is called Hamas. They sometimes send dangerous rockets into Israel, trying to hurt the people there.

Over the past week, we have seen the aftermath of the violence that has taken place between Israel and Gaza. There have been over 100 fatalities, including children's deaths. Homes, schools, and hospitals have been wrecked..

Israel is bombing Gaza because of constant rocket attacks. Terror groups like Hamas have been launching rockets into Israel for years. They want to hurt and scare innocent people. No country can let attacks on its citizens go on and on. That is why Israel uses its military to hit back.

But when Israel targets militants in Gaza, civilians often get hurt too. Gaza is a crowded, small area. Hamas puts its rocket launchers in places like regular homes. This puts normal people in danger when Israel strikes back. We wish no innocent civilians had to suffer. Their lives matter.

At the same time, Israel tries not to hurt civilians. They warn people to flee before they attack. And they only go after military targets like weapons or Hamas. But mistakes happen during wars that lead to civilian deaths. This is very sad. Israel also sends aid to help the people of Gaza, even during fighting. Still, Israel's main job is guarding its own people.

Life is really hard now for people in Gaza. Many have no power, water, hospitals or homes. Rebuilding will take a long time. The damage from the fighting is awful. Kids are scared and can't go to school. Our hearts break for the civilians suffering in Gaza. While Israel should keep protecting its citizens, peace is the best answer. The only way Gazans can have a better life is if groups like Hamas permanently stop the violence. And Israelis will only be safe if a lasting peace deal happens. Every person, whether they live in Israel or Gaza, deserves a chance to live a happy and safe life.

What's important for us is to remember a few things:

  1. Understanding Both Sides: Even if we believe Israel should protect its people, it's also essential to know that there are real people on the other side who are suffering too.
  2. Hope for Peace: Always hope and pray for peace. No one truly wins in a fight. The best victory is when people can live together happily.
  3. Spread Love: The world needs more love and understanding. Instead of getting angry or taking sides quickly, try to learn, listen, and share love.
  4. Help Others: If you hear about people in need, see if you can help. Maybe you can send toys, books, or even letters to kids who need a friend.

For now, we stand by Israel and its right to defend itself as a Jewish state. Israel has shown restraint against years of rocket attacks. At the same time, we truly feel for the civilians in Gaza caught in the crossfire. All human life matters.

This conflict shows Israel and Palestine need to restart peace talks now. While there are no perfect solutions, one thing is clear - peace is the only path to improve lives and ensure dignity. We pray the violence stops and a lasting resolution comes soon.

There is still reason to hope.
