Authorities in the Dominican Republic have confiscated the passport of the man who is the last person known to have been with missing University of Pittsburgh student Sudiksha Konanki, according to a source close to the investigation. Since Konanki first went missing in the early hours of March 6, Riibe, a 22-year-old from Rock Rapids, Iowa, and a senior at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota, has remained under police surveillance in the Dominican Republic. He has been taken to the police station for interrogation multiple times, his parents said in a statement.

Authorities in the Dominican Republic are searching for a missing US college student, Sudiksha Konanki. The Dominican National police say the 20-year-old was last seen on surveillance camera with seven other people entering the Riu República Hotel in Punta Cana after 4:15 am. Firefighters are working against dry, windy conditions Sunday as they battle wildfires scorching parts of the Carolinas and forcing residents to evacuate their homes. The Carolina Forest Fire, about five miles north of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, doubled in size to 1,200 acres overnight and is 0% contained, the South Carolina Forestry Commission said Sunday. Officials issued a statewide burn ban Saturday as dozens of wildfires flared across the state – many of which have since been contained.
